Privacy Policy

Effective 30 September 2026

Acornaut does not collect personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics and no tracking, and nothing about you or how you play is sent to us.

Your progress is saved on your own device and stays there. The app-store version shows optional advertisements through Google AdMob and can post scores to Game Center or Google Play Games; those two services are described below, and neither gives us anything about you.

This policy explains that in full. The web version at acornaut.app has no advertising and no leaderboards at all.

Who we are

Acornaut is made and published by Quarterdrop LLC, a Michigan limited liability company based in Novi, Michigan (about the studio). In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Quarterdrop LLC, and "the game" means Acornaut on the web at acornaut.app and any app-store version of it.

What is stored on your device

The game keeps a single save file in your browser's local storage (or, in an app-store version, in the app's own storage). It never leaves your device unless you deliberately move it there yourself.

WhatWhy it is kept
Progress — stars, missions completed, gates reached, best scoresSo a run picks up where you left off
Acorns, Star Dust and what you own — suits, helmets, trails, companionsSo your hangar is still yours next time
Purchase receiptsSo an item you paid for is granted once and never charged twice
Settings — sound, music, help prompts, motionSo you set them once
Pilot name, if you type oneTo show on your own profile screen
Lifetime tallies — runs flown, acorns collected, zones seenThe three counters on the profile screen

About the pilot name

The pilot name is the one place the game accepts free text from you. It is optional, it is stored only in your own save file, and it is never transmitted anywhere. Nothing checks it, reads it or uploads it. If you would rather not enter a name, leave it blank and the game uses a default.

What the game does not do

Hosting, and the one thing we do not control

The web version of Acornaut is a set of static files. When you open it, your device downloads the game's own pages, code and artwork from acornaut.app and nothing else.

Those files are hosted for us by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub's servers record ordinary request information — including your IP address, the time of the request and your browser's user-agent string — as a normal part of delivering a web page and protecting the service. We do not have access to those logs, we do not receive reports built from them, and we do not use them. Their handling is governed by GitHub's Privacy Statement.

This is the only routine data collection connected with the game, it is done by the host rather than by us, and it happens with any website you visit.

Purchases

Where the game offers optional paid items, the payment is handled entirely by the app store you installed from — Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see or receive your payment details: no card number, no billing address, no name. The store tells the game only whether a purchase succeeded and gives it a transaction reference, which the game records on your device so the same purchase is never granted twice.

Apple and Google handle that transaction under their own privacy policies. The web version at acornaut.app takes no payments at all.

Advertising App-store version only

The app-store version of Acornaut can show two kinds of advertisement through Google AdMob: a rewarded ad you choose to watch (to continue a run, or for a little Star Dust, a few times a day) and an occasional full-screen ad between runs. The web version shows none.

Leaderboards App-store version only

The app-store version can post your best scores to your platform's own game service — Game Center on Apple devices, Google Play Games on Android. The web version has no leaderboards.

Children

Acornaut is a general-audience game. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children — or, for that matter, from anyone, since the game collects none at all. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information to us, please get in touch and we will act on it.

Your data, and how to remove it

Because your save lives on your device, you are the one holding it, and you can delete it at any time without asking us:

Any of these removes your progress permanently. There is no copy on a server for us to delete, and no request you need to send us — but if you have a question about your information, or want to exercise a right under the GDPR, the CCPA or a similar law, write to us and we will answer.

Changes to this policy

If the game changes in a way that affects this policy — a new feature that sends something, or a service we begin to use — we will update this page and change the effective date at the top before that change reaches you.
